Day 32 - Breathe

Just breathe, when your heart is racing. Breathe before you speak your truth in front of a room full of strangers. Breathe through each syllable, each phrase, each aching line. Breathe until you lose yourself in every word you utter. Until that spotlight becomes the sun, and you can feel the mountain air on your face. Breathe until you're somewhere else.

Breathe until your feet slap the ground as you sprint through every memory, every moment that built the words your lips framed in the moonlight. Breathe until you're blinking at the human that you used to be. Breathe until these memories are alive again. Breathe as you watch them slip away.

Breathe as your heartbeat thunders, like a carriage over a rocky road, carrying the treasure of your deepest hopes. Breathe into the text you're speaking for all these people hear, to hold, to understand. Breathe until you're not alone in your head anymore. Breathe to bring peace into your body. Breathe to bring peace into your mind. Breathe to hold the space everyone has come to. Breathe to join all of these folk again. Breathe to ground down into this safe place, where your words become a reel playing through the strangers' minds. Breathe to come back into the present. Breathe to let all your worry go.

Breathe, as your thoughts run off the page. Breathe, as they wait for you to go on. Breathe, as you rise and seek the shadows. Breathe, as they clap for your empty mind.

Breathe in this space of sharing, where you can bring your words so you're no longer alone. Exhale the grief that you have carried. Inhale the love a room of strangers has now shown.

And breathe, because these are no strangers. Breathe, because you're united through the breath. Breathe, and appreciate their giving the love you've lost - love that will always come back.
