Day 1 - Poetry

My darling, my dear

I left your name

written in the sand on a mountain beach

where raindrops - not waves -

gently spread their fingers and

carry you into the

deeper water.

I've come to tell you,

you are not alone.

I left you there,

to become part of everything,

but I cannot stay.

You were a redwood,

and I was a river,

and I cannot run circles around you forever.

If one day you fall,

fall into me, and, my darling,

I'll catch you,

and carry you forward

into that yet unseen.

My darling, my dear,

grow proud and tall and strong,

I'm right here beside you,

even if I've moved on.
